Help connect Kingswinford

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Kingswinford’s Slow Ways.

On leaving the canal a pathway is followed alongside a large cemetery, past a large church onto the main road which is then followed to the finishing point in `Kingswinford....

This has the potential to be a sound route but the section which links the canal to Stourbridge High Street is impassable. A well established industrial estate and fencing forms a barrier. The issue can be easily corrected by following the Monarchs Way instead....

Walk this route

Could have been a great Slow Way but attempts an inaccessible short cut rather than following the very well marked Monarchs Way to join the canal outside Stourbridge. Long existing fences, private land and a magic leap across the River Stour. No....

Walk this route

It's an adequate method to walk between the two places. The highlight for me being the brief section of the old dismantled Wombourne Branch Line and canal towpaths. It can be recommended as it's fairly direct, with just a few steps down to reach the route of the old railway from Bromley Lane....

Mostly via pavemented roads but with a middle stretch of parkland and canal towpath. No issues, although steps at some points would probably preclude wheelchairs, buggies etc....

Walk this route

Mainly pavement but goes through Buckpool Nature Reserve along the Stourbridge Canalin the middle, so boots are advised. There are steps up out of the park at Kingswinford and over the bridge out of the Nature Reserve so not accessible to all. Easy to follow, safe and direct....

Walk this route

Route started well in Dudley, the detour to avoid following the main road didn't seem too arduous. 2 Having got in to Canal Park, rather than following the reasonably weather proof cycle path, the route goes down a boggy uneven footpath by the side of the canal (not a towpath)....
