Another good Slow Ways route which i started from Stourbridge following the Monarchs Way along canal towpath before leaving on to a walkway through to follow A491 into Kingswinford. Easy to follow and safe....

A very decent walk from Hagley to Stourbridge, using the Monarchs Way to provide a green corridor until housing estate walking into Stourbridge was impossible to avoid. The walk over Wychbury Hill is particularly pleasant and you could make a slight diversion to investigate the "Temple Folly" on the eastern flanks. Plenty of refreshment opportunities in Stourbridge....

It's a good direct route, which makes use of the Mary Stevens park leaving Stourbridge Town....

On leaving the canal a pathway is followed alongside a large cemetery, past a large church onto the main road which is then followed to the finishing point in `Kingswinford....

This has the potential to be a sound route but the section which links the canal to Stourbridge High Street is impassable. A well established industrial estate and fencing forms a barrier. The issue can be easily corrected by following the Monarchs Way instead....

Just before leaving the canal, there is an option to visit Stourbridge Glass Museum (apart from Robert Plant and Diamond Head, glass blowing is Stourbridge's most famous export)....

Walk this routeRather than following the Monarch's Way it follows a route which still appears possible on Google Earth, but in reality attempts to cross private land via fences...

Could have been a great Slow Way but attempts an inaccessible short cut rather than following the very well marked Monarchs Way to join the canal outside Stourbridge. Long existing fences, private land and a magic leap across the River Stour. No....

When I did the walk there was a footpath closure near the Stourbridge end of the shared cycle path, but I believe this to be temporary and not worth failing the route for....

Bunkers Hill woodland and the fields on exit, with great countryside views, were the highlight....

Stevens Park takes you back to nature before hitting the many refreshment options of Stourbridge....

Another good Slow Ways route easy to follow linking Stourbridge and Halesowen through nice Countryside with good views in the middle rural section....
Nigel Cull
This walk has a lovely destination, but has one fairly long B road stretch, hence the lower star rating. After a section of town, park and pavements the walk opens out into a lovely wood and some fields....
Corinna Faith
A lovely walk through fields and woods ending up by a river in the pretty town of Kinver...
Hannah Cuesta
A nice mixed walk with parks, smaller roads, and one very challenging road to cross and walk alongside, before cutting into the footpath at the back of the hotel car park, but otherwise it was an easy and safe walk. We thought an approach walking along the towpath might be a nicer route into Kinver, but we stuck to the defined route....

Walk this routeWe follow the canal past a flight of locks (the basin above the lowest one was overflowing a little down the towpath) and over a side branch then go up the steps onto Mill Street, which can be crossed on a zebra crossing....

Just before a house we take a path right through fences, then join the deeply rutted North Worcestershire path - bone dry sand when I walked it but the ruts suggest mud when wet. We go straight on on a good path which crosses a golf course where the path lines are clearly marked....

Crossing the road as it feeds into the Stourbridge Ring Road needs some care but otherwise a very safe, pleasant route....
Dave4
Only tricky crossing was in the final section coming into Stourbridge crossing the ring road, which doesn't have many crossings....

Walk this routeThe route compiler has left very good directions and has clearly a good knowledge of the route. It would make sense for that person to review it and get the route 'snailed'....
Dave4
It's a very pleasant route but sadly, because of some short, very uneven sections, not one for anyone using wheels and anyone having mobility issues would need to take particular care.....

Walk this routeA step free version is possible by staying on the main road and joining the road to the front of the station. First, crossing the A491 from the direction of Stourbridge Town Station and then crossing Racecourse Lane, which isn't easy to see along....

A series of roads bring you to Stourbridge Junction Railway Station and the Seven Stars Pub (recommended). The last section is via a footpath which you join in a residential area, after which it takes you under the railway and eventually to the meeting place outside the Bus Station and Stourbridge Town Railway Station....
