Help connect Kinver
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Kinver’s Slow Ways.

Interesting route but a very muddy field to content with....
Hannah Cuesta
Bunkers Hill woodland and the fields on exit, with great countryside views, were the highlight....
Mappiman
Pleasant walk, and a west-east link which is difficult by other modes of travel. However the route is currently blocked east of Alveley due to water pipeline works...

Going this way you obviously don’t get the beautiful views over Kinver Edge, but the scenery along the canal is nevertheless still very attractive and would be an excellent alternative for anyone with mobility issues....
swebbews
The short section on Doctors Lane and after the junction with Ashwood Lower Lane is on the side of a road, but traffic was very quiet and it didn’t feel in any way dangerous....
swebbews
This is a really interesting route but we ran into difficulties coming down before the A road that's crossed before Alverley. In the files above, before the woodland the route was interrupted by developer work across several fields....
Beth Môrafon
This walk has a lovely destination, but has one fairly long B road stretch, hence the lower star rating. After a section of town, park and pavements the walk opens out into a lovely wood and some fields....
Corinna Faith
A lovely walk through fields and woods ending up by a river in the pretty town of Kinver...
Hannah Cuesta
A nice mixed walk with parks, smaller roads, and one very challenging road to cross and walk alongside, before cutting into the footpath at the back of the hotel car park, but otherwise it was an easy and safe walk. We thought an approach walking along the towpath might be a nicer route into Kinver, but we stuck to the defined route....
Beth Môrafon
Kinver has a relatively frequent bus service to Stourbridge and a limited one to Kidderminster....

Makes use of the green spaces and mainly avoids main roads in Stourbridge....

Walk this routeOnce we have left Kinver High Street, we are on a fairly quiet road with no pavement. Another short stretch of quiet road walking takes us to the A449, which we cross, then take the field path left over a stile....

A big climb out of Kinver onto Kinver Edge is rewarded with excellent views to the west. An easy-to-follow walk along the edge before dropping down on paths to the canal. A pleasant walk then into Kidderminster along the towpath....
Tim Ryan
These, the A451 and the A449 are however just crossed, the A451 is a staggered crossing ' but with a verge to walk on....
Tim Ryan
The route is easy to follow, there is a small section along a country lane, other than that it is fields, canal, forest paths....
Angela Hodgetts
A delightful early Summer stroll from Worcestershire into Staffordshire via the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, Kingsford Forest Park and Kinver Edge....
The wanderlost surveyor
The first part of the route as described follows Cookley Lane, with traffic which can be fast and relatively busy for a country lane, until it follows the North Worcestershire way and heads eastwards, eventually crossing the River Stour near Caunsell. There is a much better alternative by taking the towpath of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal from Kinver to near Caunsell and then picking up the route as describe. There are two busy roads to cross, the A449 and the A451, both of which carry fast traffic and can be very busy but can be crossed safely with care....
Route should go from top corner of Mary Stevens Park*, cross Heath Lane, public footpath joining top end of Pepper Hill, then Chapel St, Park St, then rejoin New Rd.(Ring Road). Suggestion: for a little more off-road, from Norton Rd, not Stanley rd but take Beech Rd (has bus stops) & sign posted path across common; cross Stanley rd into Park. In Mary Stevens Park*, go to bandstand & take path that slopes directly up to top corner*....

Version 1 is showing route through private gated road, should be neighbouring r.o.w path and street. Some choices for the path are debatable and might be improved, e.g. choice between awkward path or more direct minor road....
