Help connect Kinver

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Kinver’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates

A nice mixed walk with parks, smaller roads, and one very challenging road to cross and walk alongside, before cutting into the footpath at the back of the hotel car park, but otherwise it was an easy and safe walk. We thought an approach walking along the towpath might be a nicer route into Kinver, but we stuck to the defined route....

Walk this route

The first part of the route as described follows Cookley Lane, with traffic which can be fast and relatively busy for a country lane, until it follows the North Worcestershire way and heads eastwards, eventually crossing the River Stour near Caunsell. There is a much better alternative by taking the towpath of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal from Kinver to near Caunsell and then picking up the route as describe. There are two busy roads to cross, the A449 and the A451, both of which carry fast traffic and can be very busy but can be crossed safely with care....

Route should go from top corner of Mary Stevens Park*, cross Heath Lane, public footpath joining top end of Pepper Hill, then Chapel St, Park St, then rejoin New Rd.(Ring Road). Suggestion: for a little more off-road, from Norton Rd, not Stanley rd but take Beech Rd (has bus stops) & sign posted path across common; cross Stanley rd into Park. In Mary Stevens Park*, go to bandstand & take path that slopes directly up to top corner*....
