Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 May 2024We walked this route from Kingswinford to Kinver on a sunny day in May, temperatures just over 20 degrees meaning (for me, anyway!) perfect walking conditions.
The first section from Kingswinford town centre as far as the A449 is on a pavement up a slight incline along Summer Hill and Lodge Lane. After crossing the main road, there is a gravelled track that descends until it meets Doctors Lane. The short section on Doctors Lane and after the junction with Ashwood Lower Lane is on the side of a road, but traffic was very quiet and it didn’t feel in any way dangerous.
After passing the Navigation Inn, the route crosses a bridge over the Staffordshire & Worcestershire canal, where it joins the towpath and continues along it for virtually the whole of the rest of the way to Kinver.
The canal is very beautiful, and we had sightings of various herons, geese, ducks, jays as well as many dragonflies - and even a kingfisher!
It was a thoroughly enjoyable walk and I highly recommend it.
