Description
Leaves Kingswinford centre via the main road south and then heads through a quiet residential area. Joins the pavement of Bromley Lane and eventually reaches Fens Pool Nature Reserve, the paths of which can get quite boggy. On the other side there's a short bit of residential pavements before joining the Stourbridge Road and then crossing into Woodside. A series of streets and footpaths then lead to the edge of Canal Park, where you join the cycle path and then cross the A461 via the pedestrian crossing. The rest of the route takes you around the cemetery and then via a slight diversion to avoid following the main road, before delivering you on to Dudley High Street and then through the market to the meeting point by Dudley Bus Station

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

14 Nov 2021Quite a good route out of Dudley. Having started along the High Street, it detours slightly to avoid following the main road. The views at this first section are rather marvellous. Having passed through a couple of streets around the cemetery, a couple of crossings take you into Canal Park. You follow the cycle route around the periphery and then join the adjacent street. The next section, comprises of a series of streets, until you get to Fens Pool Nature Reserve. The tracks here can be quite muddy. On the other side, it's back to walking on the main road. The last section before the final walk along the main road into Kingswinford, includes probably my favourite part of the walk. A climb up the appropriately named "Knowle". The view west into Staffordshire is spectacular. This route is undoubtedly safe, quite well connected to public transport and makes the most of offroad opportunities. However, it doesn't feel very direct and I didn't find the offroad sections particularly enjoyable to walk. I think there's a better version out there.
