A reasonable route with some nice views in the middle where the route crosses from Devon into Somerset....

A lovely quiet start to the walk alongside the canal with plenty of benches....

I walked from Tiverton to Cullompton on a muggy summer day, so was very happy that this is a flat, relatively short and easy walk. The 2.5 miles along the canal was my favourite part of the walk - peaceful and plenty of nature. Can't really add much more to the previous reviews - good route....

I got across the fence ok, (I just stepped on it) but immediately we entered the field the whole herd of cows ran over from the opposite side. Trouble is the fence is right at the edge of the field, so I had to push through brambles and nettles, while trying not to fall in the ditch, all while the cows were challenging us. In an earlier field we walked past cows that ignored us completely....

At the Culompton end, it is a more direct route with fewer ascent but you miss some extra views over the town and of Hillersdon House....

A nice walk, mostly along quiet country lanes and some unsurfaced tracks with a few good ascents....

The canal basin is also a valid start/end point for the walk with toilets, car parking a visitor center and a cafe....

The climb out of Silverton is fairly steep but this is along a beautiful old Devon track which more than compensates. You are rewarded with big views on the way down to Cullompton...
Nick Silver
Absolutely dreadful weather resulting in some rather dispiriting route-finding through long wet grass in the fields around Aunk (poorly maintainted paths - and little used, given the extensive nettle growth at the gates), but the high degree of lane-walking, easy and not busy, made up for it!...

Walked from Silverton to Cullompton as part of a circle starting and finsihing in Ottery St Mary. Some tracks and footpaths but largely lanes, which were very lightly used the day I walked. Very long hill up is rewarded by a rather wonderful view of East Devon....

There is a nice walk along the stream at the Cullompton end which is no longer than the road route....

Walk this routeMuch of these are quiet, but at the Cullompton end it is mostly on road all the way to Ashill around 5 miles....

Good route, quiet roads and easy to navigate. Passes by a shop and pub for refuelling. Some parts would not be navigable by bike though....
Lucy Mottram
A very pleasant route following quiet country lanes and byways for the most part. No real problems found, but some steep climbs are involved....

There is a long section along the busy A373 between Cullompton and Willand albeit there is a pavement at least on one side throughout....

The walk crosses and re-crosses the busy A38 and the Great Western trainline, one through an underpass and twice on un-manned crossings....
