Help connect Honiton
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Honiton’s Slow Ways.

But does have one short section on the enclosed path which was full of water, quite deep and surrounded by mud. I suspect that this section, which is short just 3 or 4 meters is usually in this condition - or worse, being in a dark section of enclosed path....

The route between Honiton and Godford Cross is about 2 miles along a busy and fast A road (The A373 toward Cullompton and the M5 intersection) Mostly this is unpaved and without useable grass verges on either side....
Tim Ryan
I've nothing to add to Helen or Tim's great reviews. I suspect that someone will be able to suggest a more direct version, but this one is still ace....

I walked from Chard to Honiton and really enjoyed this route....
Helen Gough
Also there are parts where the plotting is inaccurate, not by a lot, but enough to get you the wrong side of a hedgerow and have to again retrace your steps. I have uploaded HonCha2, which avoids wasting energy!...
Helen Gough
The route leaves Colyton along the East Devon Way, following a footpath on the banks of the River Coly, which is well signed and waymarked. Past the village it follows a field footpath up a rather steep hill (photo 7) - for a less steep alternative you could stay on the minor road, which loops up and round to rejoin the slowway route at the top of the hill....
Helen C
Includes riverside walking, forest paths, one particularly steep hill and any road walking was pretty quiet....
Tim Ryan
Looking forward to doing it again in the summer and stopping off for a vegan roast (one of two options!) at the Tucker Arms in Dalwood....
pilea
Thoroughly enjoyed walking it and will stop in at the Tucker Arms (in Dalwood) for the vegan roast next time. Nothing to add on Helen's review....
danravenellison
The suggestions of Hayne lane sound good and could perhaps create a good route through Honiton too....

I walked from Axminster and it starts with a section walking along a quiet lane, before walking through meadows alongside the River Yarty. There is a lot of lane walking, but all the lanes are quiet, and for winter walks, lanes can be a relief from the mud....

Tim Ryan added Culhon three, a new walk from Cullompton to Honiton
Walk this routeAn enjoyable day out with 3 pubs nicely placed along the route....

Lucy Mottram added Culhon two, a new walk from Cullompton to Honiton
Walk this routeGood route, quiet roads and easy to navigate. Passes by a shop and pub for refuelling. Some parts would not be navigable by bike though....
Lucy Mottram
Can alternatively use Hayne lane for other end of honiton (albeit a steep route)...
T
This route had loads of positives - varied countryside from woodland, farmland and more urban scenery; only one short section of busy road just before Roundball Hill from the Gittisham direction....
Emily Howells
A great walk, though I'd alter slightly at Honiton to take in the paths along the bank of the stream through Littletown, rather than walk the length of Honiton Bottom Road....
