There were a few occasions where the route was not completely obvious on the ground - such as crossing the fields from Broad Lane - so having a navigation app (Komoot) was helpful in giving me confidence I was heading in the right direction....

Easy route for cycling commuter to/ from ferry. if walking just be careful of passing cycles....

The route from Wootton to Newport is less special, I would suggest a detour via Binfield, walking along the Medina is nicer than going via the suburbs of Newport....
EdLyons
Often used by people commuting between Newport, St Mary's Hospital and Cowes. Connects to the "Red Squirrel" Route from Newport to Sandown via Merstone, Arreton and Langbridge....
Rosy Jones
Although if you want to avoid the hills it may be better to go down to Sandown and along the old railway line, this is a lot more accessible as well....

To avoid the allotments (re previous review): from the Quay in Newport it is possible to follow the dockside road until the junction with the footpath near the Premier Inn....
dsmith10
However the route is shown going through the allotments which isn’t possible. When you reach the allotments you can turn left down Kingston Road and then into the playing field after the cemetery....
Clare Adams
Walk is very accessible - mostly on tarmac or gravel road between Newport and Merstone, on the old railway line. Amenities in Godshill. Steep steps on the down descending into Ventnor....
Steven Sales
Most of the Newport end of route is simple, flat and accessible....
Simooon
All in all, it's a delightful walk - you might even see some red squirrels, after whole the path is named....
