Help connect Ventnor
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Ventnor’s Slow Ways.

A beautiful route - sea and lush almost tropical woodland. A short detour off this route can take you up the devil’s chimney which is worth seeing. Definitely one of the best walks on the Isle of Wight (though there’s a lot to chose from!)...

Walk this routeLargely traffic-free and generally direct route between Newport & Ventnor. Between Wroxall and Ventnor, Rew Lane offers a flatter alternative direct route which does not require the descent of steps described above....

Walk is very accessible - mostly on tarmac or gravel road between Newport and Merstone, on the old railway line. Amenities in Godshill. Steep steps on the down descending into Ventnor....
