The coast path in this area is prone to landslip; sadly there are now two diversions due to landslide, and I feel a new version is needed (until the next one)....

This route starts in Shanklin town centre - shops, loos, bus and rail routes all available here. The route joins the Isle of Wight coastal path just outside the town centre and you walk the cliff path between the two towns....
Almighty Custard
A beautiful route - sea and lush almost tropical woodland. A short detour off this route can take you up the devil’s chimney which is worth seeing. Definitely one of the best walks on the Isle of Wight (though there’s a lot to chose from!)...

Walk this routeI walked it Sandown to Shanklin, so the trek from ocean level up to the coastal path along the top of the cliff was quite steep (steep pavement and stairs)....

I walked this from Shanklin to Ventnor as part of a longer Isle of Wight trek and it was very beautiful (even after the clouds rolled in and completely engulfed me on the hilltop!)....
