Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

28 May 2022This route starts in Shanklin town centre - shops, loos, bus and rail routes all available here.
All the path is tarmac and mostly off road. The route joins the Isle of Wight coastal path just outside the town centre and you walk the cliff path between the two towns. There is a well signed diversion after a cliff fall.
There are lovely views over the channel as you walk. Path is quite steep in places. There are a number of refreshment kiosks along the route and public toilets.
Once reaching the outskirts of Sandown you can opt to turn left (then right) to the high street or right to the seafront. Both have options for refreshments and toilets - be aware of seasonal opening. Buses and trains available from Sandown.

12 Jun 2021Awesome route along the coastal path. I walked it Sandown to Shanklin, so the trek from ocean level up to the coastal path along the top of the cliff was quite steep (steep pavement and stairs). I think there is a route that takes you along the ocean front, though. Path is mostly (if not all) paved. Beautiful views with plenty of seating for enjoying those views!.

24 Apr 2021Lovely walk along the coast path. Plenty of places to stop for food / drink. Several toilets en route too. Mainly very flat along the front. Can get busy.
