Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

04 Oct 2023Walked Shanklin to Ventnor.
The coast path in this area is prone to landslip; sadly there are now two diversions due to landslide, and I feel a new version is needed (until the next one).
In general though, yes this is a wonderful walk, highlights for me are St Boniface Church at Bonchurch; and the whole ‘Landslip’ area of damp ferns and mosses. Lots of steps.
Sorry not to feel able to sign off on this one, I’ll put up a new version which is the one I just walked.

24 Nov 2021A beautiful route - sea and lush almost tropical woodland. A short detour off this route can take you up the devil’s chimney which is worth seeing. Definitely one of the best walks on the Isle of Wight (though there’s a lot to chose from!).
