There's a short road walk to Mays Green but the road was quiet. After crossing the M25 there's a short road walk (very quiet) along Pointers Road....

There's no pavement for 1.3 km along Rose Lane into Ripley although there are grass verges....

Walk this routeI got a little confused after getting to Gomshall, as the public footpath (photo #12) doesn't start where the map shows, but instead at the south east end of the public car park just north of where the map shows it to be....

Some of this route goes along a private farm track (Roundtree Farm, West Horsley) although coming from Ripley it's not marked as private. I'm concerned about the route along Rose Lane, Ripley which is nearly a mile of road walking. There's no sensible alternative although it's shared with the Fox Way....

I started at Horsley Station and joined the route by walking 1 km next to the railway. To avoid walking down Ripley Road (no pavement) I diverted through Hatchlands Park (map)....

(If it is any help, when you get to a post with a choice of Green Dene or Shere Lane car parks you head in the Green Dene direction.). After you cross the Green Dene road some of the path is quite steep and I would imagine hard walking in wet weather....
