Please see my Wokcob Three review for more details, but all three Wokcob routes are impassable due to the M25/A3 roadworks. Will amend/delete this review if and when that changes....

See my Wokcob Three review for more details, although this route is virtually identical as far as I can tell. None of the Wokcob routes are accessible until Spring 2025 at the earliest due to the M25/A3 roadworks. I’ll amend/delete this review in the future if and when it changes....
Smatticus1991
It’s a shame, because his has the potential to be a good Slow Way, maybe a great one, but at the time of writing (May 2024), the roadworks around the M25/A3 junction have blocked off a number of footpaths and A3 crossings....
Smatticus1991
(Walked in reverse order) Another “victim of geography” in my eyes, meaning that, for all the the best intentions of the Slow Ways project to link all the settlements together using the most scenic routes possible, some villages and towns are connected almost exclusively by residential roads and paths....
Smatticus1991
There is a crossing of The Old Woking Road B326 at a right angle bend. This is fine coming from Cobham as you can see both ways along the road, but coming the other way on the inside of the bend you can't see the cars coming and crossing here would be suicidal. The land either side of the foot bridge crossing the A3 has been churned up by heavy machinery and the Path has been obliterated, head for the bridge which is easily visible, and then head in the general direction over black sandy dunes with shredded trees and you will pick up the path. Gates, kissing gates, stiles, narrow paths and uneven surfaces make this unsuitable for wheels....

The start of the walk was a through Cobham town so there was good amount of space for us to walk. I have also never walked around Cobham before really so I am pleased I got to walk around a new area....

We walked 90% of this route, ending at Littleworth Road where we went straight on to join the Esher-Kingston route. Handily, there is a nice pub (The Swan Inn) at the point where we stopped. Very pleasant walk, avoiding the main roads and a handy crossing place over the A3....

It is a bit challenging around the roadworks on the A3/M25 junction, but at the time or writing the A3 footbridge is open and accessible. We made a short diversion just after crossing the A3 to go to Ockham Bites for a coffee and snack. Half of the car park has been taken over by the road works, but the cafe is still open and accessible....

A straightforward walk between Cobham centre and Oxshott (I used the station). Much of the footpaths are between fences so no views. There is no need to divert off Littleheath Road (as in Coboxs one) as the pavement is continuous....

There's a short road walk to Mays Green but the road was quiet. After crossing the M25 there's a short road walk (very quiet) along Pointers Road....

After leaving Cobham's shops behind, there is a short section along Downside Road that is not pleasant (photo #1). Cobham Park Road and Downside Common Road require road walking (photo #2, #3), but traffic on a Saturday was pretty much non-existent....

I walked this on a warm, slightly haze morning, from Oxshott (station) to Cobham. I missed the bit between the start at Oxshott and the station, but I have walked that with other routes so I know it's fine....

There were, however, quite a few styles and areas in general that makes this route inaccessible to those who are disabled....

From here the route continues along easy going sandy/chalky paths of the fairly open Chatley Heath (photo #5), before going through some more woods to end up at a cleared space around the A3 crossing. You cross then the river Wey, before ending up on your first golf course (photo #6), with easy going (new) metalled paths. After crossing the River Way Navigation and its lock (photo #7), you then end up on your second golf course....

Derick Rethans added Wokcob three, a new walk from Woking to Cobham (Elmbridge)
Walk this routePretty good, but there are some access issues near the Wisley interchange, and some minor adjustments are needed as the route isn't very accurately drawn in places. I'll propose a Wokcob 2 which fixes these issues....

From the M25 crossing to Ripley the entire route is off road, apart from where it crosses a lane at Wisley. After crossing Wisley lane the path went alongside the famous Royal Horticulture Society gardens, and then some fields and more common land, and I was in Ripley. Refreshments can be found slightly off route at the A3 crossing (just south of the route at the car park on the east side of the A3), and at Wisley gardens, where you can follow pedestrian access signs from Wisley Lane, through the car parks to the café....

I've made an alternative route Ripcob Two which skips the car park and goes across Wisley Common instead....

The best alternative is a route from Weybridge to Hersham and then from Hersham through West End Esher and through the commons and Hogsmill Lane to Cobham....

This route takes you to St George’s Hill private estate through which there is no public right of way. We had to finish the walk half way down Old Avenue due to the lack of public access. If you live on St George’s Hill estate or are a member of the tennis or golf club there then that’s fine but otherwise it’s a non-starter....

The diversion round Links Green Way and Twinoaks makes the route longer without any benefit. The bridleway on Oxshott heath is muddy and used by horses. The parallel cinder track in better under foot for pedestrians....

It goes through the security-guarded St George's Hill private estate, the covid-19-restricted entry to Whiteley (retirement) Village, the horribly busy Seven Hills Road (with one narrow pavement), and, near the end, through the no-access back entrance to Painshill (entrance fee required) It might be possible to devise a route via Brooklands......
