Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Netherne On-The-Hill’s Slow Ways.

I also tried to avoid Netherene Lane on the way out of Netherene (there is a small carpark for the block of flats and then a field and a path across it) and tried to cross the field to join the path but was told it was actually someone's garden!...

From Netherne the route starts along a lit path (photo #1) and then heads down to cross the railway at Hooley where there is some pavement walking along quiet residential streets (photo #2). Soon the route goes up again along fields, open space chalk land (photo #7, #8, #9), and down the hill to cross a level crossing....

The path there was mostly good (photo #1), but at other parts ridiculously muddy (photo #2). Once crossed the M25 on a bridge, the route then heads through another woodland (photo #6) with lots of wild blackberries, up to Rockshaw Road slightly uphill. And finally it finishes with a short section along a narrow lane (photo #14) to end up at Netherne and its church (photo #15)....

An improved version of netcat one which uses a lovely quiet back lane in Caterham, (the local preference), rather than walking uphill along the hectic B road. After climbing the hill at Caterham I walked along footpaths and quiet roads, enjoying the peace and quiet....
