Progress towards triple-checked route options for Harrow’s eight Slow Ways: 72%
Help connect Harrow
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Harrow’s Slow Ways.

I hadn't realised from the map that the route went under the roundabout near the start in Harrow but was glad to be able to avoid the busy roads there!...

After having left Harrow-on-the-Hill, the route then proceeds along the busy Northolt road for a bit, which it turns away from just before South Harrow station. You cross the rail way and the Harrow sidings, and the rest of the route is along the busy-ish Mandeville Road (photo #3) to end up at the finish at Northolt tube station....

The *actual* path was a fast flowing stream, so I wandered along the other side of the hitch up the hill, where then cows blocked my path and I had to divert and jump a fence (sorry) to join the route just before it crosses Merry Hill Lane. The route (at least with the OpenStreetMap background) shows to cross the stream on the North West corner of the golf course with a ford. After the view point there was a minimally muddy path which ended up at Uxbridge Road, which was a little tricky to cross due to a lot of traffic, and no official crossing point....

After crossing the West Coast Main Line, and going under the Chiltern Line at Northwick Park, the route goes along the sides of a hospital, with lots of street works currently. After crossing Watford Road, the route continues along Harrow School's playing grounds, with a steepish path up towards Harrow....

There's so much going on in just the last bit of the walk, with great parks, great historic buildings of the Harrow School, great climbs and great views....

It's an okay route, which I walked from Edgware to Harrow....

After descending from the hill and going through the playing fields the route becomes urban, with nearly solely pavement walking....

My favourite part was the quaint town of Pinner, and my least favourite the end underneath the roundabout at Harlow. I guess it gets the job done....

I enjoyed this route- particularly the climb up to Harrow on the Hill....

More importantly I don't think the MOD would approve of people wandering along the runways of RAF Northolt! I've created Uxbhar Two as a viable alternative....
Strider
There is a short section of suburban road walking from Uxbridge Town center. Steep (34%) hill up to St Mary's then an equally steep hill down towards Harrow Town Centre, some great panoramic views....
Strider
After a short bit of road it is woods for a while, round Bayhurst woods, keeping the fields in view to one side, the Ruislip Woods with beech, oak and old coppiced hornbeam....
Strider
After leaving Harrow town center there is a steep (28%) climb through a park to St Mary's Church whose spire is synonymous with Harrow-on-the -Hill....

I got back on track eventually by dropping onto the 'Old Redding' road for 100 metres (plentiful fast traffic, but there is a verge), then turning off again up Ass House Lane, which leads to a golf course (photo) and - hooray - the London Loop signs miraculously reappear! A brief celebration - the route officially leaves London and enters Hertfordshire while crossing the golf course. Almost immediately, as if to underline its new status as a rural Slow Way, comes the second tricky bit - the path that links the golf course to Merry Hill. Merry Hill is so well named, acres of grasses and trees and scrub which has so far survived being turned into a golf course....

I agree with Jeff (first reviewer) that it may be better to follow the Capital Ring Link and Capital Ring between Harrow and South Kenton station. I'm planning to go back and check this route idea and will put up an improved Harwem in the next few weeks....

I walked from the bustling Wembley Central high-street to Harrow shopping centers with tree lined streets, Northwick Park, and Harrow School grounds on the way. Quite a pleasant walk , generally on good paths with the exception of a steep water worn track close to Harrow (soon to be repaired - Oct 21)....
Strider
It looks a well used entrance to the Merry Hill area, but the fence has clearly been repaired before and may well be repaired again. It is an unreliable and possibly illegal way. An alternative is to continue along the road another kilometer to the proper gate to the area, and rejoin the route there....
Strider
There are the usual suburban streets close to Harrow town center but once beyond this it is a beautiful and varied hike....
Strider
Easy going apart from one 200m dilapidated steep path that is likely to be repaired soon. A pleasant walk but with not much to recommend it....

This is walking along the A4006 Kenton Road from/to Harrow to Kingsbury....

Quite muddy in parts and not suitable for road bikes or mobility, most walkers will enjoy this one, but be sure to bring your boots!...

There is one error in the route in that it is not possible to join the Capital Ring at the SW corner of Northwick Park Hospital from the path shown....
