The descent from the golf club towards Teignmouth (via Shepherd's Lane) is also steep and it's the part of the walk where you may need to throw yourself into the hedge to avoid cars ( I met 4 in about 15 minutes)....

This is a pleasant, safe and easy assessable route. Some parts are not suitable for wheels. I would definitely suggest it to others and walk it again....

I followed the Dawlish Teignmouth Way which followed a good path above the cliffs ' adding both high climbed and distance to the original route....

What should be noted is that a huge part of this route is dependent on the Tide and is inaccessible for much of the time. After several attempts I had no option but to turn back towards the A380 flyover where I was able to follow a path into a housing estate making my way along Haytor Drive up to Shaldon Road. It was unclear from the Map if there was public access from the river edge back up to the road if there were sections which were cut off by the tide and I wasn't able to see if the tide was sufficiently low enough to walk from Arch Brook to The Strand off Ringmore Road....

A nice walk in good weather, we walked it in windy, drizzly weather and it was slippy in places, particularly down the steep hill from Holcombe. I would also think twice about walking the Teignmouth sea wall in bad weather....

As Dan mentioned, this gets very muddy in winter as can be evidenced by the path that has been washed away - it must have been quite a little flash flood in the winter's storms....

Walk this route2. The associated .gpx file for NewTei1 is very imprecise and may have misled another reviewer into taking an alternative and less appropriate track from Shaldon Bridge to Teignmouth Station. I have been at pains to ensure the NewTei2 .gpx is as accurate as possible and also included supplementary route guidance under Route Guidance Stages 1 & 3 below and photos.. a) Walk north for 70m up Courtenay Street and take the signposted path to the right of Sherborne House to encounter the River Lemon. d) From Town Quay follow the footpath signs and symbol slightly inland and through a path bordering an industrial estate. The path continues, well-surfaced and clearly signposted, and you will soon get a distant view of the A380 road bridge over the River Teign which is your next destination. Note: there are 2 cycle barriers on this stretch both of a design which allows a bike or pushchair to be lifted through. g) Various routes are possible but recommended is to take Teign Street (which becomes Bank Street) and turn left at Station Street to the A379 where there is a traffic island to assist crossing to the station and the Slow Way termination at madness.bandstand.stiff....

a) Walk north for 70m up Courtenay Street and take the signposted path to the right of Sherborne House to encounter the River Lemon. b) Keeping to the west (left) bank, follow the River Lemon along paths and minor roads, occasionally signposted Town Quay or displaying the Templer Way symbol, until reaching the B3195 (The Avenue). d) From Town Quay follow the footpath signs and symbol slightly inland and through a path bordering the industrial estate. We walked it from Teignmouth back to Dawlish, having used TEIDAW Two as the first part of our circular walk. About half of the walk runs along the sea walls in Teignmouth and Dawlish but the part in the middle makes up for it with some steepish hill climbs around Holcombe; the latter are not suitable for wheelchairs and buggies. This route may be of interest to railway enthusiasts since it runs parallel to the railway line for much of the way....

This is a most enjoyable slow way; quieter than the coast path and good in combination with TEIDAW One for a circular walk. The terrain is highly variable, ranging from regular town pavements to uneven cross country tracks. It is in places absolutely not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies....

At low tide it is a pleasure to be able to walk on the beach but the steps giving access from the seawall are steep and unguarded....

First, in Torquay it generally follows busy roads, rather than finding a quieter route (say, via Rock Walk, over the Warberries and Warberry Copse to Walls Hill)....

Walk this routeTEIDAWone joins and then follows the SW Coast Path between Teignmouth and Dawlish. Stage 1 Teignmouth Station to Windward Lane, Holcombe. 30 meters up Windward Lane, access to the SW Coast Path is clearly signposted. Stage 2 Windward Lane to the A379. Old Teignmouth Road to Dawlish Station. Immediately turn right along Old Teignmouth Road to gain respite from the traffic. The stretch of railway between Teignmouth and Dawlish gained international notoriety in 2014 when storm damage led to its closure for several months. Long tie-rods have been drilled into areas of cliff between Teignmouth and Holcombe to stabilise the hillside and wire netting stretched across particularly vulnerable areas to contain erosion3 Work on sea defences between Boat Cove and Dawlish Station has now been largely completed but this final stretch could also be subject to restricted access at times. • Conservation concerns are being voiced concerning over-use of the outstanding Holcombe to Dawlish stretch (Stage 2)....
