Description
Given the potential barriers of the sprawling development of Kingsteignton, the A380 express way, the A381, the mainline railway and the River Teign this is an imaginative and for the most part tranquil way. The highlights are the 2 off-road sections, neither of which is appropriate for “wheels”.
I don’t know where the idea of a “foreshore path” originates? There has never been public right of way through the Boat Yard upstream of Shaldon Bridge and the railway effectively rules out an intertidal track such as has evolved on the south bank (see KinTei2). On exiting from Broad Meadow it only requires a 300m pavement walk along the A381 to the traffic lights to link with a maintained off-road and pedestrian-friendly urban way through the town to the station. This vastly improves on finishing via the A379 while adding minimum mileage.
In KinTei1 PAV correctly identifies both the fault in the original KinTei gpx and its resolution: KinTei 3 uploads the corrected gpx.
I liked Pav’s concise directions in KinTei1 and decided to attempt the walk with reference to neither OS map nor gpx track. The absence of both “visible” street name signs (particularly at the start), and of “distance indication” for identified stretches, proved “unsettling” (OK, I got the map out a couple of times for reassurance!). Consequently, I have emulated Pav’s descriptive style used in KinTei1, which seems appropriate for this predominantly road route, but have added approximate stage and cumulative distances in my Review

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
