A very pleasant walk that follows the Eden Valley Walk route for most of its length, featuring woodland, crossing fields and passing a number of streams and reservoirs as you near Tonbridge....

This is a very pleasant walk, with a good variety of woodland, waterways, lakes, gentle hills, and nice views. It's a longer walk, and Edenbridge and Tonbridge have shops for refreshments, but there are only a few good spots for rest should you need it - Hever, Penshurst, Haysden Water, for example....

Walk this routeBreak and rest points: Edenbridge - two stations, buses, decent shops, and a very pretty high street; Hever Station; Uckfield Rd nr Hever - Greyhound Inn 100m to south; Markbeech - Kentish Horse and nearby Falconhurst Farm Shop (coffee, baking); Cowden Station - 750m on path (from https://what3words.com/saying.slice.hedge); Cowden - Fountain Inn it is also a very pretty charming village. I joined them from Cowden Station into the village before testing this route so now I can miss out that bit while testing one of them out....

The route is quiet and pleasant, the hilly section in the middle across the Greensand Ridge is particularly nice, as are the views....

East of Edenbridge there was a short bit of roadwalking along Hilders Lane and then a very short bit on the slightly busier again Little Browns Lane before the turn off for the golf course....

Walk this routeA wonderful walk that was spoiled by long stretch of uncomfortable non-pavemented, relatively high traffic road walking, the main road between Hever and Edenbridge. On the day I chose to divert quite quickly and tried the Eden Valley Walk again, plus then a shortcut footpath between Lydens Lane and Hever Rd. From Hever take a footpath going south from the church, then quiet Rectory Lane, left onto Uckfield Lane for 100m and join EdeCow 2 on quiet Hever Lane. Using the Eden Valley Walk would add <100m and be off road immediately. Most of this route follows the Eden Valley Walk and for a few miles the Wealdway too. Road walking between Hever and Edenbridge as above...

Pleasant enough route through farmland except from Hurst Green to Oxted where it's through quiet streets....

Along field edges with some great views and mostly farmland as far as Crockham Hill where the route crosses the B2026 again. I missed the route just after Crockham Hill primary school following the path to Frogham Lane – I retraced my steps and took the correct route but as it turns out either way involves a lot of steps up to the lane....

About half of the route is walking alongside a road - around two miles at each end, although the two miles out of Edenbridge is mostly on a quiet/private road so it is not noticable (in both instances, taking a more off-road route would be a significant detour). All in a lovely walk to take, I didn't see anyone between Jules Wood and Larches Farm, and the level of road walking at either end means it is much less taxing than the 8 mile tag suggests....
