A group of us tackled this route towards the end of summer and though the rain came down quite heavily at times, the changes in terrain and scenery made it worth while all the same....

The route for the main part is easy to follow, with a combination of field paths, wooded trails and minor roads. There are a few stiles along the way, mostly slate steps set into walls so this route isn't suitable for someone unable to climb. Otherwise, paths are clear and unobstructed....

As you follow a quiet Station Road out of Trawsfynydd the first ambiguous place is after 1km at what looks like a scrapyard. After crossing the road and walking up, walkers will be walking next to a stream through green undergrowth and when they eventually cross it, they need to walk up a steep slope towards Llan Ffestiniog village....

The last stretch of the route is on paved quiet roads and it ends with a long walk along the seafront at Porthmadog, where the sea is actually not visible because the pavement is blocked by a road....

I suggest aiming for another overhead line tower as shown on the third photo. As you leave Ffestiniog and walk down to a stream between 9th and 10th km from Trawsfynydd, the route suggests turning right after crossing the stream. I believe walkers should turn left after the bridge (see the fourth photo), then approach another bridge after some 100m and instead of crossing it, only then should they turn sharply right and uphill. I suggest walkers should aim at a place to the right of the two trees shown on the fifth photo....

Walkers should turn right then left towards a bus stop as shown on the first attached photo and follow paved roads. The route seems very inaccurate in this section because it suggests that walkers should not cross a railway line until after the Tanygrisiau reservoir. I believe the route should follow a marked footpath, cross the railway line and walk alongside the reservoir....

This route rises above Betws-y-Coed via a wide path through a forest with many wooden seats, benches and inspirational messages along the way. 1.3km behind Betws-y-Coed where the route continues straight ahead instead of continuing along one of the wider paths. There was a similar inaccuracy on the other side of the hill where the route goes through a railway underpass and rises uphill again....
