Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Trawsfynydd has accomodation facilities as well as a convenience store. As you follow a quiet Station Road out of Trawsfynydd the first ambiguous place is after 1km at what looks like a scrapyard. Walkers need to look out for a waymark and not continue into the scrapyard.
The route then leads along wide farm tracks through pens with cattle in an open countryside. After it reaches a paved road through small woods it leads down a meadow towards a major road. There is no clear footpath to follow but the direction is clear. Stiles at both sides of the road are a bit overgrown.
After crossing the road and walking up, walkers will be walking next to a stream through green undergrowth and when they eventually cross it, they need to walk up a steep slope towards Llan Ffestiniog village. The route continues down to another stream Afon Teigel. It is important to turn left right after the stream and turn sharply right uphill only after some 100m to hit the right footpath in the forest.
The last section of the route before Blaenau Ffestiniog is not always obvious on the ground but the gpx should provide a good enough direction of travel to find a crossing of wire fences.
Overall, the route is quiet, relatively straight and the biggest H&S threat is a thick undergrowth with ticks.
