Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

17 Jun 2023This route would be fairly good if it was more accurately drawn. I got into a dead-end corner 3 times by following it.
Trawsfynydd has accomodation facilities as well as a convenience store. As you follow a quiet Station Road out of Trawsfynydd the first ambiguous place is after 1km at what looks like a scrapyard. Walkers need to look out for a waymark as shown on the first attached photo rather than continuing into the scrapyard.
A turn that can easily be missed is between 3rd and 4th km from Trawsfynydd. Walkers should aim at approaching an overhead line tower on the right-hand side of a fence. It is shown on the second photo.
The first section which I think is misleading is between 4th and 5th km from Trawsfynydd. It looks as though walkers should go through a forest but I found no easy-to-follow path there. Only a dense undergrowth and low tree branches blocking the way. I suggest joining the paved road there instead.
After that there is a long way down towards A470, mostly through a meadow with no clear path on the ground. I suggest aiming for another overhead line tower as shown on the third photo.
As you leave Ffestiniog and walk down to a stream between 9th and 10th km from Trawsfynydd, the route suggests turning right after crossing the stream. That is potentially misleading. I believe walkers should turn left after the bridge (see the fourth photo), then approach another bridge after some 100m and instead of crossing it, only then should they turn sharply right and uphill.
Finally, the last section where I was misled was between 12th and 13th km from Trawsfynydd. I suggest walkers should aim at a place to the right of the two trees shown on the fifth photo.
The route leads via many footpaths overgrown with brambles so long trousers are recommended. I also found ticks on me after the walk.
