Help connect Llanberis
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Llanberis’s Slow Ways.

I have done this path a number of times in both directions, the first bit from Llanberis is steep and a bit of a slog, but worth it. The last part from Rhyd Ddu is a very pleasant stroll past a reservoir then into some forestry, and mostly down hill...

I have walked this route in both directions as part of the Snowdonia Slate trail, this route does deviate away from the Slate Trail at the Rhosgadfan end of the route. There are very few amenities on this route, obviously lots in Llanberis, the Tafarn Snowdonia Parc in Waunfawr is a good pub that serves food and is also a micro brewery and is next to the Waunfawr station on the Welsh Highland Railway....

I like this route, it does have some beautiful views, especially between Rhiwlas and Beran Garage, Beran Garage has a well stock Co Op on site, and Brynrefail does indeed have a very good cafe on the site of the old high school called the Caffi Caban. The bicycle path along side Padarn is a lovely and easy path to finish this walk. There are lots of places to eat and drink at both Bethesda and Llanberis...

The only issue i have with this route(and the Snowdonia Slate Trail), is crossing the moor from Mynydd Llandegai to above Deiniolen, specifically the path between Afon Marchlyn-Mawr and Afon Marchlyn-Bach. I have yet to find a route between these 2 streams that does not end up with your feet wet, the waymarked route definitely leads to wet socks. If you are looking for a path between Bethesda and Llanberis, i would recommend the Llabet 3 path, that path has good views across Anglesey, and avoids the problems at Mynydd Llandegai...

This avoids the problems after Beran garage and does not have the problems of Mynydd Llandegai part of the route of Llabet 2...

The incline then increases quite a bit before you reach the top of the pass and as someone who hasn't been very fit before taking this on, this was the section I found the most challenging....But, it was still very achievable by taking small pauses and making the most of the epic views. The last section of the walk was fairly easy walking in terms of both incline and navigation. We had started our day by leaving our car at Beddgelert and taking the bus up to Pen-y-pass and then a second bus down to Llanberis (a very beautiful and easy trip in itself! highly recommended) so we were then able to travel directly home after finishing our hike; however there were a couple of fabulous looking places to eat in Beddgelert had we wanted to end our day with some well deserved treats...

The most direct route between Llanberis & Beddgelert, this Slow Way has incredible scenery, through the foothills of Yr Wyddfa and the Hebog range through Beddgelert forest....

Daisy C added Llabet three, a new walk from Llanberis to Bethesda
Walk this routeAfter joining the main road at Waunfawr (all pavement) it's simpler to just carry on until the pavement stops and take the signposted left turn onto the cycle path (rather than cutting the corner on the footpath across the field which has livestock)....

Great walk, especially Beddgelert to Rhyd Ddu which is wheelchair possible with good views of Snowdon. Second part can be wet underfoot and not suitable for wheels. Good low level route round Snowdon....
Chris Vernon
Narrow sections and styles mean that mobility vehicles would not be able to access many parts of the route....
