Description
Delightful, pretty, very little road walking, pretty woodlands, can feel remote at times, but petrol station in middle, outstanding views, the glorious Llyn Padarn, a classic. Some steep sections, 300m height gain, stiles, may not be accessible to all.
That's a plagarised (and butchered!) version of Tim R's lovely review from LlaBet One. Which also has some gorgeous photos. LlaBet Three is a tweak of that route which had a few problems, a few non-existent paths/tracks and one very boggy/impassable bit.
My armchair-designer thoughts:
* If you can go just a little off-route there seems to be a pub and a cafe, both near Brynrefail.
* It intersects bus route(s?) at Rhiwlas and along the A4244. And probably others too if you go along the (busy but pavemented) A4086 into Llanberis instead of following the lake-side path/cycle route.
* Beran petrol station sells vegan foods according to Tripadvisor!
* The route isn't entirely remote, there are farms scattered along the way, plus Rhiwlas village. It looks significantly less remote than the shorter alternative LlaBet Two which also doesn't seem to have anywhere mid-route to eat or catch a bus.
* Lots of guest houses, campsites, etc pop up when you zoom in on Google or other online maps, particularly as you get closer to Llanberis

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

26 Mar 2024I like this route, it does have some beautiful views, especially between Rhiwlas and Beran Garage, Beran Garage has a well stock Co Op on site, and Brynrefail does indeed have a very good cafe on the site of the old high school called the Caffi Caban. The bicycle path along side Padarn is a lovely and easy path to finish this walk. There are lots of places to eat and drink at both Bethesda and Llanberis.
