Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

03 Jul 2022 (edited 02 Dec 2023)I've not walked this continuously but it's my local area and I've done all of it in various sections at various times. It's a beautiful route with some great views and generally on good surfaces though the Llanberis end is more challenging and probably not suitable for anyone with wheels (unless they're tough off-roading ones).
Starting from Llanberis the initial part goes up a fairly steep road/track the upper part of which is rutted/eroded gravel. From the top you join a very quiet tarmac road and there are some lovely views towards Caernarfon as you descend. After joining the main road at Waunfawr (all pavement) it's simpler to just carry on until the pavement stops and take the signposted left turn onto the cycle path (rather than cutting the corner on the footpath across the field which has livestock). The second half is a really lovely signposted cycle track the whole way to Caernarfon. It's all tarmac except a short part through a farmyard (look out for the peacocks) which is cobbled, and a slightly steep bit of compacted gravel to pass under a road (cycle-able but only if you're in the right gear and ready for it!).
