Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Wallington’s Slow Ways.

Good route, probably best used if you want to walk directly between Sutton and Croydon, where you can jump between 2 Slow Ways routes and skip the spur along Manor Road to Wallington station....

As the route description makes clear, this route works best as part of a longer Slow Way connecting Sutton with Croydon, which maximises green space and off road paths between the two larger towns - to do this one would 'jump' from this route to the next one (Walcro) at the A237, and skip the walk to Wallington station. As a direct route between Sutton and Wallington its less effective, especially at Wallington the section along busy Manor Road isn't that great, and if what you want is to go straight between Sutton station and Wallington station then I'd recommend Sutwal One....

Good direct urban route through pleasant residential area of South London....

Pleasant route through Beddington Park and following the Wandle Trail....

After a while, you turn off London Road (photo #2) and around a pond (photo #3) before entering Beddington Park (photo #4, #5). Then after going down a hill (photo #7), the route follows the river Wandle for a while, with good paths (photo #8, #9)....

Park Hill was a little busier, but not hard to cross....

It's a lovely route, but I am failing this one, as it was so badly drawn that at places it wasn't possible to follow the route. I've uploaded WalCro5, which is the same route (I think), but much more accurately drawn....

Walk this routeI expected a good route given the amount of green space but Mitcham Cricket Green was rather pretty, the back alley path in Mitcham greener and better than expected and particularly the birding at Beddington Farmlands pushed this all the way up to 5 stars....

Take the diagonal path across the second green area from the Cricket Green lane which goes directly to the pedestrian crossing. Pedestrian lights at Wallington Green to cross the A232....

Walk this routeStraightforward walk on mainly quiet roads. A couple of busy roads to cross but not difficult. Shops at Carshalton Beeches (around halfway)....

Mainly quiet side roads from Wallington to Roundshaw....

The route seems to veer away from the river onto Butter Hill following Wandle Trail signage. Sadly the route pulls away from the Wandle Trail but heads in the direction of Mitcham Common of which we’re given the briefest of glimpses before heading down a pathway/back alley away from the main road....

Once you dodge a few trams out of East Croydon and go through a less an desirable underpass the routes takes you along a rather splendid series of footpaths. Beddington Park offers the biggest treat of the walk before a short main road jaunt up to Wallington Station....

Straightforward route mainly on pavements, some quiet roads and a section through the Grove Park, Carshalton. Connection to Walcro four to Croydon at Manor Road North omitting walk south to Wallington Station (another 3 miles)....
