Help connect Sutton
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Sutton’s Slow Ways.

As the route description makes clear, this route works best as part of a longer Slow Way connecting Sutton with Croydon, which maximises green space and off road paths between the two larger towns - to do this one would 'jump' from this route to the next one (Walcro) at the A237, and skip the walk to Wallington station. As a direct route between Sutton and Wallington its less effective, especially at Wallington the section along busy Manor Road isn't that great, and if what you want is to go straight between Sutton station and Wallington station then I'd recommend Sutwal One....

Good direct urban route through pleasant residential area of South London....

I had lived in Coulsdon for years before finding out about the path at the Mount that takes you into Sutton. On a clear day I recall there being impressive views of the city. The path is the only link into the rest of the LB of Sutton, without having to leave the borough!...

It's an easy to walk route, starting (photo #1) with some residential streets in Sutton, before following some back alley public footpaths (photo #2)....

Crossing Reigate Avenue is easy, as there is a foot bridge, and thankfully you only need to walk along this busy road for about a minute (photo #5), before continuing through "The Daisy Field" park (photo #6)....

From Belmont onwards, it is one straight route along a busy road into Sutton....

Interesting bits - gas holders near Motspur Park, ponds at The Hamptons just off the path, a long wall of graffiti (the path here is called pig farm alley on some maps), the brook, and a road named for it - just here the water disappears from sight but can be heard on the path beyond the road....

A direct, safe and enjoyable route comprising of a muddy, wooded, offroad section over Banstead Common in Surrey then the pavements of Greater London into Sutton. Generally easy to follow but marred by some dodgy plotting at the Banstead end, not bad enough to fail it, but bad enough to have to guess what they had intended. The Sutton end has links to transport and pubs....

Surprisingly lovely alternative route down footpaths from Cheam Village to Sutton that's much better than the main road....

Very pleasant walk along footpaths with very little main road or residential walking....

This route uses mainly quiet roads and paths through open spaces. The path alongside Watermeads Nature Reserve (51.393474, -0.170693) is prone to be wet and muddy but can be avoided by walking along signposted cycle route to Bishopsford Road....
