Description
Slightly longer but diverting through Beddington Farm Lands (with two lakes and bird life), Beddington and Grange Parks. This makes a greener footpath walk although Farm Lands paths can be muddy in winter

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

08 Oct 2023I expected a good route given the amount of green space but Mitcham Cricket Green was rather pretty, the back alley path in Mitcham greener and better than expected and particularly the birding at Beddington Farmlands pushed this all the way up to 5 stars. The usual waterside birds like herons, geese and ducks but also little egrets, shovellers, teal, lapwing and a great white egret! If I'd stayed a bit longer there was a chance of stonechats or a short eared owl too. Thank you John!
Minor warning - traffic makes it difficult to cross A237 / Carshalton Rd near the junction with Goat Road. There was a traffic island some way further south that might help.

22 Aug 2023The route across the cricket green is not quite right. Take the diagonal path across the second green area from the Cricket Green lane which goes directly to the pedestrian crossing. The first green is fenced. There are steep steps each side of the bridge across the tramway. Crossing the A237 Carshalton Road is a bit tricky as it's quite busy. There are steps on the railway footbridge. There are two bird-watching hides overlooking the lakes (no birds on the northern lake today, last time there were 13 Herons!). The path is mostly firm gravel through the Farmlands and surfaced through Beddington Park. Pedestrian lights at Wallington Green to cross the A232. Plenty of shops and cafes in Wallington and Mitcham, nothing in between.
