The section from Chertsey train station to Chertsey Bridge makes good use of traffic free paths through open spaces and quiet residential roads, perhaps a little dull, but avoids the traffic and noise of the main road....

I continued on to the route to Ashford so missed out the centre of town....

This is a very pleasant walk from the iron railway bridge near Thames Lodge Hotel to Chertsey Lock....
Carole Longman
Fairly tame and calm, just a few road sections and all of the difficulties that come with them...

Most of the walk, between Staines and Chertsey bridge, is alongside the river Thames on the Thames footpath. Chertsey bridge is a lovely old river crossing, but it is very trafficy, and I recommend whichever direction you are walking from that you cross facing the traffic, then on the far side of the bridge cross the road using the footpath which passes underneath....

Good route along the reservoir between Staines and Stanwell Moor....

Walk this routeThe route goes through the centre of Staines, a lot of shops, cars and car park, culminating in a shopping centre leading up to the meeting point at the bus station....

The routing across the A308 by Staines bus station is a little off, use your common sense and cross at the lights....
Jane Taylor
The route is accurately drawn; the amount of A and B road between Egham and the river could be reduced (e.g. by crossing the National Trust field which is part of the Runnymede NT area) - but I don’t think it’s worth making a completely new route option for this. Path surfaces vary from pavement to narrow, steep and somewhat muddy footpath through woodland; and there are stairs at Staines bridge....

After crossing the M25 into London, there is a little lane walking, before crossing the Staines Aqueduct, after which its along roads and through a shopping centre to the finish....
Derick Rethans
Good walking route although would be a little tricky for non able bodied persons as there is a little bit of rough track. This may be avoided if one headed into hotel grounds at The Runnymeade and picked up the Thames Path from there. Made a pleasant walk....

On tracks, rather than paved sections, these are narrow and when we walked this route, the paths were overgrown with nettles and brambles....

The towpath part is delightful with loads of wildlife from kingfishers to cormorants. At the end of the riverside part is a lovely pub, the Kingfisher. The road part is, well, a road part....

The middle section crosses Shortwood Common on a paved footpath....

This is a direct route, away from traffic. Bridge over railway is sloped with no steps. There were a few cows and horses on Shortwood Common....
Philipj8
Direct path but a little boring as travels along by a high metal fence of much of the way....
