Help connect Partridge Green

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Partridge Green’s Slow Ways.

Nice route mainly along the Downs Link, simple for navigation and mostly flat for walking. A couple of nice little places on the way for refreshments. Only issue is having to cross the fast busy A283 which isn't pleasant....

Walk this route

The Downs Link is very suitable for wheels, but this route diverts into Steyning, using footpaths with steps (its the same going out of Steyning back onto the Link to Shoreham)....

Walk this route

I did this walk as part of a walk to Shoreham and took the Downs Link practically all the way, the scenery gets better the further South you go....

Strider

Walk this route

I walked it in December and whilst there were a few areas that were impassible due to large puddles, it is otherwise an interesting route....

Walk this route

Really enjoyable route linking hurst, sayers common, shermanbury and partridge green....

Ricky Coleman

Walk this route

A really nice, peaceful, rural route following field paths, farm tracks and quiet country lanes across beautiful Low Weald scenery. Given that this is a rural route using footpaths you will have to negotiate stiles, kissing gates, narrow footbridges across streams, plus fields with livestock....

Bostal Boy

Walk this route

This route follows the Downslink trail from start to finish. There are no stiles or gates to negotiate along the way, and a nice café at the Southwater end, overlooking the lake at Southwater Country Park....

Walk this route

This is almost a brilliant Slow Way (easy to follow and flat), but it's not accurate at the Partridge Green end......

Walk this route

We would have walked this Soupar One and the Worste One (Worthing - Steyning) in the same day. This is a great Slow Way, other than Partridge Green end which should be more accurately drawn. I've shared Soupar Two to fix this....

danravenellison

Walk this route

The route follows the South Downs link which is a flat and easy to follow disused railway line that's used by walkers, horse riders and cyclists. Loved the trees along the route....

I have added a photograph of the blockage and uploaded a PARBUR Two which follows this route exactly, with a diversion to cross the road at the nearest safe location....

Walk this route

The first section heading out of BH is through the industrial estate, from then on it is a series of footpaths around field margins and some wider bridlepaths including a very attractive section between Herrings Farm and Great Wapses Farm. Around Shermanbury Park the route follows the South bank of the River Adur which was another lovely, peaceful path....

I walked half this route on 26 April 2021, in the reverse direction, from Partridge Green to Dial Post. Mentioning Hookshile Wood, there is a beautiful display of bluebells right now; well worth the walk at this time of year just to see them. The walk is also great because Knepp, just outside Dial Post, is well worth a visit. Even without time to go to Knepp, there is a pub in Dial Post as well as a cafe at the Garden Centre....
