Help connect Oxshott
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

(Walked in reverse order) Another “victim of geography” in my eyes, meaning that, for all the the best intentions of the Slow Ways project to link all the settlements together using the most scenic routes possible, some villages and towns are connected almost exclusively by residential roads and paths....
Smatticus1991
A pleasant walk primarily through Ashtead Common and Prince’s Coverts, took about 1h 10m....

When you've left the road, which is not *unsafe*, the route goes through lovely woods (photo #2). After this lovely section, you start to hear the M25 more and more, and eventually you cross under the A243/A244 roundabout (photo #8), and then with a bridge over the M25 (photo #9)....
Derick Rethans
One short stretch (lane by the Old Star pub) felt a little unwelcoming, but mostly attractive woodland....

The climb out of Oxshott along a busy road is annoying (photo #1), but not long after that, the path separates slightly (photo #2), before going onto Prince's Coverts (photo #3)....
Derick Rethans
First along urban footpaths (photo #2, #3), and once you pass the Milbourne Lodge School (photo #4), along the wooded footpaths (photo #5) of Arbrook Common, and Esher Common (photo #7, #8)....
Derick Rethans
The route is not the safest in parts and goes through a working farm, and passes old derelict farm buildings and heavy farm machinery....
Tim Ramsay
As a minimum requirement I would probably not want to have to dodge traffic as part of a walking route. Many of the paths were also unkept / un-walkable....
David Dear
Route was full of over grown pathways and unclear directions. Lots of busy roads to walk along and cross. Not the safest route for parts of it....
Lauren Munro
A straightforward walk between Cobham centre and Oxshott (I used the station). Much of the footpaths are between fences so no views. There is no need to divert off Littleheath Road (as in Coboxs one) as the pavement is continuous....

I walked this on a warm, slightly haze morning, from Oxshott (station) to Cobham. I missed the bit between the start at Oxshott and the station, but I have walked that with other routes so I know it's fine....
Derick Rethans
The road out of Oxshott is nasty, very busy, noisy smelly road with narrow pavements, it is mercifully short....
Strider
These woods are the majority of the walk but unfortunately you get to Oxshott along a horrid road where the pavement keeps ending making the pedestrian cross from one side to another and back again....
Strider
I found the route easy to follow, and I really enjoyed the whole section from Epsom to the Kingston Road, where The Star is well placed for refreshments....
Jane Taylor
Goes through Arbrook Common, Esher Common, and Oxshott Heath - three pleasant and different green spaces, mostly forested....

TC added Coboxs two, a new walk from Cobham (Elmbridge) to Oxshott
Walk this routeThe diversion round Links Green Way and Twinoaks makes the route longer without any benefit. The bridleway on Oxshott heath is muddy and used by horses. The parallel cinder track in better under foot for pedestrians....

I would not walk this route as it has about 500m of walking on the verge of the B280 Fairoak Lane. This road is often busy and is 60mph alongside the verge....
TC
This route does not work as there is no access from the B280 Fairoak Lane to the Prince's Coverts at the location indicated. The entrance is a further 500m along the verge of this busy 60mph road. People do use this verge but I wouldn't....
