Connect Epsom with Slow Ways
We’re creating a network of walking routes that connect all of Britain’s towns, cities and national parks
more walks and reviews are needed to fully connect Epsom to the verified network. Can you give a hike and help?
Give a hike!Help connect Epsom
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Epsom’s Slow Ways.

An urban walk mostly along a path offset from the road next to the Hogsmill River, not very scenic though. Some interesting architecture at the Ewell end....

Shorter than the other option between Epsom and Ewell and less greenery too but you don't miss much by taking this quicker option....
RobP
You wouldn't call it exactly picturesque (although the otherwise unnecessary loop through Nonsuch Park does add some greenery) but in general a reasonable, easy route....

There's a traffic light crossing at West Street just before Epsom Town Centre....

From Epsom there is a long section along roads (photo #1)....

From Ewell West there is a short section along a road (photo #1, #2) and across a car park to end up at the church (photo #3)....

The climb out of Oxshott along a busy road is annoying (photo #1), but not long after that, the path separates slightly (photo #2), before going onto Prince's Coverts (photo #3)....

Pleasant walk from Epsom Town Centre to Ashtead alongside the railway with plenty of green sections especially through Ashtead Park....

Route: This route mainly tracks via Epsom Common and Ashtead Park, which are a pleasure to walk through. There is a section on the walk after Ashtead Park where there is a need to walk along a road with no pavement, however the road is very quiet and the area is picturesque....

This route mainly tracks via roads Epsom side, and backyard alley ways through Nork. There are a couple of large road crossings at Drift Bridge and Brighton Road, both are serviced by pedestrian lights, so it's safe and easy to cross...

Along with being at great connection to the Ewell to Sutton walk, half of this route is a wonderful stroll from Ewell East station to Epsom. There’s a little bit of residential walking but mostly lovely footpaths. A small section of the London Loop also makes a cameo in Nonsuch Park....

I did this Slow Way as part of a big Waylist that started in Zone 2 of London, and I thought this was one of the nicest sections I tried within the M25....

There weren't any cyclists when I was walking on the path, but since there is no real separation between pedestrians and cyclists, both would need to be quite careful sharing the path. That said, the path is pretty safe and well maintained. If I were to walk it again I might find some alternatives to vary up the long stretches of road....

Route goes slightly off the paths at Winey Hill which is probably the only short up significant climb of the walk. Route gets very muddy along the bridle ways towards Chessington. A few country lanes without pavement but nothing too dangerous....

I found the route easy to follow, and I really enjoyed the whole section from Epsom to the Kingston Road, where The Star is well placed for refreshments....

The Banstead end of the route is mainly footpaths cutting through quiet residential areas....

Taking the foot/cycle path from Waterloo Road (Temple Cl) is a nicer route than Temple Road. Both run parallel with each other so it won’t effect journey time....

This is a direct walking only route from Epsom to Banstead using pavements besides roads and public footpaths. At Banstead the station is approximately 1km from the town centre with trains to Victoria and London Bridge. At Banstead use footpath parallel to high street to church....

There is a path off Waterloo Road that goes alongside Court Recreation Ground ( parallel to Temple Road) and finishes at Pound Lane1...

This route does not work as there is no access from the B280 Fairoak Lane to the Prince's Coverts at the location indicated. The entrance is a further 500m along the verge of this busy 60mph road. People do use this verge but I wouldn't....
