Help connect Liskeard
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Liskeard’s Slow Ways.

Walk this routeThe route was not always clear but as long as you stay on the east side of the West Looe river it is passable....

We hired a boat in Looe and sailed up the river that I would have run along and I was gutted not to have been able to make it down to Looe as the scenery and wildlife is stunning. I think at the right time of year this would be a fab route down into Looe, but late August possibly too late as everything has grown up so much!...

Nice route on mostly small roads and very quiet pathways. Love the opportunity to go places I might never otherwise find myself....

Nice route but coming out of Bodmin, you are taken through a farmer’s field and there’s no official way into Cardinham woods. Coming out of Cardinham woods I did also find myself definitely just walking through somebody’s driveway....

Walk this routeI was dissappointed to have an access issue early on; after entering farmland from the Liskeard side and walking through without issue (gates, stiles and even some signage was fine) I found myself locked in at Halbathick Cottage. Very sorry to have to report the access issue bcause otherwise this has the makings of a great slowway....

The route as given took me to a resolutely locked fence in a wild wood. A workaround Boconnoc House took me through a very smart private estate and deer park. On leaving the house I closed the gate and looked back to see many signs with discouraging messages on the pemisess and gate itself in spite of the clear public footpath waymarker opposite....

My son and I walked this route at the winter solstice (2021 Dec 21), with one notable difference from the route on the Slow Ways web-site: we stayed in the West Looe valley, whereas the Slow Ways route suggests an entirely unnecessary climb and deviation to Duloe before returning to the valley. If this deviation were removed, I would recommend this route. We took 4h23m including two pauses for sustenance....

The section after Doublebois indicates that the route enters Dennicksball Woods and follows trails to Trago Woods and Trago Mills....
