Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

13 Aug 2024A pleasant and fairly quiet route. The section between Herodsfoot and Church Bridge was, at the time I walked it was difficult. It was overgrown and wet in places. The route was not always clear but as long as you stay on the east side of the West Looe river it is passable. There were no places for refreshments.

07 Sep 2023I saw this route and fancied a walk/trail run down to Looe from Duloe, so the latter part of the route. I visited in late August and the path along the river was too overgrown for me to use it. Bring shears! The main routes down towards the river are rock, mud and moss so difficult to run on but certainly walkable. We hired a boat in Looe and sailed up the river that I would have run along and I was gutted not to have been able to make it down to Looe as the scenery and wildlife is stunning. Trees right up to the river, herons and an abundance of other wildlife. Parts of the path closer to Looe may get flooded by the tidal river so worth bearing in mind before setting off. Proper shoes recommended as the rocks and mud are slippy. No mobile phone signal at points on the river. I think at the right time of year this would be a fab route down into Looe, but late August possibly too late as everything has grown up so much!.

06 Jan 2022My son and I walked this route at the winter solstice (2021 Dec 21), with one notable difference from the route on the Slow Ways web-site: we stayed in the West Looe valley, whereas the Slow Ways route suggests an entirely unnecessary climb and deviation to Duloe before returning to the valley. If this deviation were removed, I would recommend this route. We took 4h23m including two pauses for sustenance.
