Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

30 Jul 2023Nice route on mostly small roads and very quiet pathways. Love the opportunity to go places I might never otherwise find myself.

25 Sep 2022 (edited 26 Sep 2022)Liskeard is a busy market town of charachter and quirky places to explore. Pensilva is plainer but has a well stocked shop, both the church and the Millenium centre were open for a rest and a toilet stop if needed. It has regular busses between Launceton and Liskeard but they do stop around 17.00. Pensilva is in a very beautiful place on the high moor.
This route takes you skimming the edge of the Cornwall AONB and raises you up for some amazing outlooks. The climb is kinder than you might expect being steady and relatively flat on top. Some of the stiles are in better repair than others and inevitably some are narrow.
I was dissappointed to have an access issue early on; after entering farmland from the Liskeard side and walking through without issue (gates, stiles and even some signage was fine) I found myself locked in at Halbathick Cottage. This section would not be accessible from the other direction. With no one to talk to I climbed out but this was clearly not ideal.
Looking at maps later I am now slightly paranoid that I missed a gate to the south of the yard - please check if you are passing.
On a brighter note you do not need to roadwalk on the approach to Pensilva, there is a perfectly accessable footpath accross the moor to your left that takes you almost to the final access road.
Be aware of cattle grids but I believe there are solid paths via gates if you oprefer to avoid them.
Very sorry to have to report the access issue bcause otherwise this has the makings of a great slowway.
