Help connect Cranfield

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Cranfield’s Slow Ways.

From Millbrook station the route is along the road, with no path, and only a rough verge alongside blind corners. The other part that lets the route down is from the bottom of Marston Thrift, and across the busy A421 via a bridge. There's a pub, The Bell, just a few metres from where the route leaves the roadside and leads down to Marston Church, and on across fields to Millbrook Station. The route from the church gives options to take in the lovely Marston Vale Forest adjacent to Stewartby Lake, and the associated Forest Centre....

Quickest way between Kempston and Cranfield without having to step on the Cranfield road which is not nice. Footpaths near top farm will get very muddy in winter. Lovely countryside once you get the other side of Wootton....

Walk starts in Cranfield village and continues on pavement next to road past Cranfield airport. Just pasted Stilliters Farm there is a footpath that takes you to the University Campus and should be able to pick up footpath across field from there....

From Woburn Sands station there is a long stretch on the Woburn Sands - Cranfield road, which although it is two lane has no speed restrictions and no pavement or verge for most of it. I therefore opted to take the second of the two route options as it got off the road soonest. The path up onto the bridge was cinder and would have been hard going for a wheelchair or pushchairs but I think any one using these would have given up on the road section anyway....
