The first part of the walk is alongside the River Severn, before turning west and climbing into the Wyre Forest....

The previous reviewers have described this route quite comprehensively, and I would only add a comment that there are still footpath closures south of Bewdley as work on their flood defences continues. The current diversion (in May 2024) takes the walker up Acacia Avenue and onto Stourport Road. It’s a well signposted diversion, and doesn’t detract at all from a thoroughly enjoyable walk....

Amazing woodland walk with so much to see including a beautiful brook and a large lake with large fowl. I took the route early in the morning which is a great time to get the sun light through the trees. (I did this walk two years ago and was going to write up a review then but two days later I was in AMU for a week - so completely forgot until now)...

We leave at a bridge accessing a residential area; the access is easy to miss, a tarmacced road on the left of the towpath by the buildings. Past the houses, we cross the road into Brinton Park (watch the traffic, as the road bends here), following the tarmac path gradually uphill. Past the band-stand and toilets, we exit onto the main road, crossing to a residential road ahead. The track becomes an unpaved road approaching Blackstone Meadow, but it is seldom used by traffic....

The street walking is at the Kidderminster end but is broken up by short sections along the canal and through Brinton Park....

Public transport a bit limited from Bewdley but the route links with the bus station at Kidderminster and the railway station is a short walk from the end....

David Sanderson added Bewkid three, a new walk from Bewdley to Kidderminster
Walk this routeThe plotting in Rifle Range is also awry, but only because the footpath at the east end is overgrown, and because the section between the edge of the woods and the entrance to Devil's Spittleful follows a footpath on the map which does not even closely follow the actual footpaths on the ground. All of these problems are addressed in Bewkid Three and the Rifle Range issues are addressed by Bewkid Two....

Walk this routeDevil's Spittleful in the Rifle Range Nature Reserve is particularly stunning. Near the beginning you have to double back from the exit off the canal as the route goes over a private bridge and housing estate - just take the bridge over the canal by Tesco, turn left along Park Lane until you come to the park on the right and then you're back on the route....

This route commences with a pleasant riverside walk downstream along the River Severn before gently rising up through the heathland of the Devil’s Spittleful, to then drop down into the streets of Kidderminster, with a short stroll along the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal....
The wanderlost surveyor
This would suggest that this route may not be passible at times of high river water levels....
