In the main - this is a fine walk but with two caveats around the road walking. The second section of road is much busier but does have more of a verge to escape traffic....

Its not the direct route but you really would be missing out if you do not go up Clee Hill with its incredible long distance views, very visible industrial history and its "1950's James Bond villian" location big quarry and radar site....

Walk this routeMaybe winter (Jan 7th 2026) is the best time to avoid overgrown paths. I certainly didnt have any major problems with the many expected stiles and field boundaries. Two buses (292 and 3/15) to get back to Stourport but with all buses on time, I am declaring this walk a major success!...

The route follows generally well marked public footpaths and bridleways with some not having been maintained by the local council (e.g. GR716718) and so were overgrown and therefore took time to clear. Further some Public Footpaths across fields were not clear to follow with one or two not having clear exit points into adjoining fields....

After some consideration I’ve given this route (which we did from east to west) a 3 star rating, but in reality this is an average of the different sections of the walk, which I’ve split into 5 sections:. This was a tough section, mainly due to the footpaths shown on the Slow Ways route and OS maps simply not existing in real life, maybe due to underuse and spread of vegetation. We did this walk in May, and saw nobody at all en route. As we weren’t confident that we could locate any kind of footpath leading up to Titterstone, we deviated from the Slow Ways route and turned left onto a small road leading down to cross the A4117 just east of Farnden. Conclusion: I’ve recommended Ludcle 2 for inclusion in the Slow Ways network, but anyone walking it may need to show some flexibility in adapting their actual route on the section between Hopton Bank and crossing the A4117 according to conditions....

Walk this routeAmazing woodland walk with so much to see including a beautiful brook and a large lake with large fowl. I took the route early in the morning which is a great time to get the sun light through the trees. (I did this walk two years ago and was going to write up a review then but two days later I was in AMU for a week - so completely forgot until now)...
