Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

22 Jul 2024I walked this route on Friday the 19th July 2024.
In Cleobury Mortimer you follow Church Street down hill turning right at the coffee house into Barkers Lane then cross Pinkham continuing straight onto the Public Footpath.
This route is very picturesque following parts of the Worcestershire Way through the villages Bayton, Clows Top, Rock, Heightington and onto Stourport-on-Severn.
The route follows generally well marked public footpaths and bridleways with some not having been maintained by the local council (e.g. GR716718) and so were overgrown and therefore took time to clear. Some styles were also overgrown or in a bad state of disrepair. Further some Public Footpaths across fields were not clear to follow with one or two not having clear exit points into adjoining fields. In one particular field (GR 719715) there was no obvious style to cross into the next field so I needed to take a detour along the footpath North to GR721716 and then South to GR722715 picking up the footpath to Rock Moor Farm.
The route continues from Rock along the Worcestershire Way which is generally well marked before entering Areley Wood. It was difficult to find the footpath through the wood at first having to use a compass bearing for navigation but then the path becomes more defined as you exit onto Areley Lane before turning right across the Severn bridge and on into Stourport-on-Severn.
The GPX file is quite accurate .It is a walking route that requires a good level of fitness. It is a safe route to walk but with some access issues and therefore is not suitable for wheelchair users and it would also be challenging for walkers with certain physical disabilities.
