Help connect Beverley
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Beverley’s Slow Ways.

Minor error in gps file to rejoin the rail trail after Etton - you need to turn right and loop under the bridge to rejoin, unlike route GPS (see screenshot)....

Las section into Cottingham has a narrow path alongside a drain which needs to be walked carefully....
Jonathon Wells
If it has been wet then some sections of the railway near Cherry Burton do get boggy, but generally this is an excellent easy walking route. Only one road to cross. Only a few steps, otherwise flat or very gradual inclines as it is an old railway route....
Jonathon Wells
Some really lovely views along this route. Only one section with a busy road to cross. Some sections not easy for less mobile walkers but nothing too difficult....
Jonathon Wells
The first part of the walk from South Cave to High Hunsley is lovely, mainly on the Wolds Way footpath....
Zara Connor
Only loses a star because the route diverts to Etton which is not necessary - you can just carry on along the Hudson Way....

Karen Towner added Bevcot three, a new walk from Beverley to Cottingham
Walk this routeI am going to add another route which combines the best bits (for me) of bevcot 1 and 2 plus a little variation at the end to simplify navigation near Millbeck Wildlife area....
Karen Towner
Care needs to be taken as you navigate the outskirts of Beverley and Cottingham but if you know the area or have a navigation tool you will be alright. There are a number of obstacles which would prevent wheelchair access and perhaps some larger buggies. Lots of beautiful spring flowers and birdlife even around the large electricity sub station....
Karen Towner
This is an easy to follow route, much of it following well signposted public footpaths. There are areas of woodland and hedgerows with plenty of bird life at this time of year (spring). The HV power lines and distribution substation somewhat spoil the route, if you’re looking to immerse yourself in nature....
Nigel Whiting
From South Cave the route soon joins the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Once you join the road (quiet country lane), you soon leave the Yorkshire Wolds Way and head to Walkington and then on to Beverley....
Nigel Whiting
The other section between the A165-A1035 roundabout and Beverley is almost all paved underfoot. If you are walking Hornsea to Beverley, the cafe is at 14km into the walk....
Flora
Unfortunately I can’t recommend it because there’s a 3km section which is on private land where there’s no Right of Way. This is between Park Lane at Weel Carr and Meaux Bridge. Also, crossing the A165 is dangerous, especially since just nearby there’s an underpass....
