25 May 2021This is a route of two halves.
Between Hornsea and the A165-A1035 roundabout, it’s very quiet and rural. This section consists of arable fields, really enjoyable walking through the Wassand estate, and quiet country roads.
The other section between the A165-A1035 roundabout and Beverley is almost all paved underfoot. (With the exception of the Beverley pastures). Four and a half kilometres is alongside the loud and busy A1035, but you’ll be walking safely on a walking/cycling path, separate from the road. It’s noisy but direct. Put your earphones on for this section!
You can stop at the excellent Millers Cafe at Heron Lakes holiday park. If you are walking Hornsea to Beverley, the cafe is at 14km into the walk. If walking Beverley to Hornsea, the cafe is 8km from the start.
There are good bus links along this walk, making it easy to cut the walk short. The EY Buses app is useful in this area.
The route through Beverley is easy but you’ll need to pay close attention to your gps/map to follow the route.
