Help connect Nutley

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Nutley’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates

The route is through Ashdown Forest and is for the most part pretty easily followed. Ashdown Forest can be a bit confusing as there are loads of paths, but not always exactly as marked on the map. From Ashdown Park to Forest Row, the section through the woods at Broadstone Warren is fairly straight forward, the section through the golf course less easily followed - I was relying on SatNav again....

Then a path through Shermanreed Wood which is fenced on both sides so easy to follow. Then heading towards Maresfield, the route goes past Mill House Farm. Heading out of Maresfield the route goes along the drive through Maresfield Park past lots of big houses and gardens. This road is quite busy, but there is an adequate path/verge for pedestrians to walk along before taking the footpath on the left towards the hamlet of Cackle Street....
