Walk this routeApart from the short walk ro the town centre this was wholly on the Brandon to Bishop Auckland Railway Path. I would reckon this to be suitable for wheelers. An excellent walk with shops at both ends....

After the second road crossing (near Langley Hall farm), at first we foĺlow an embankment but soon descend steeply to the Deerness footbridge, followed by a sharp pull up the other side to regain the trackbed route. From here we continue through woodland under the road bridge and alongside the railway....

Soon it crosses the river over a footbridge and climbs a steep stony path through the woods. After crossing the minor road it continues around the farm buildings and picks up the line of a well cleared crossfield path to the outskirts of Brandon (a pub here)....

Well marked and direct route for both cyclists and walkers (part of the national cycle network). Path can be prone to flooding after heavy rain on the section between Brancepeth and Brandon but is otherwise straightforward with gentle gradients. A short diversion is possible off the route at Brancepeth village to visit the castle and St....
