Leaving Shildon watch out for the footpath turn off the road, which leads straight down the valley like a railway line. After coming down to the road at Eldon Lane, it is easy to miss the footpath turn off the road after the railway bridge....

Then it is a clear paved or gravel path to Tudhoe and Croxdale. From Sunderland Bridge you join a bridle path through the Croxdale estate, with views of the House. It's slow going and I can see no benefit to leaving the clear path except perhaps the idea that every Slow Way needs its share of cow manure!...
