Starting from Crook, its a long slow gradual uphill walk.Its quite pleasant - you go through quite a lot of woodland....

1) Barbed wire across the path. Thank you, farmer.. I decided not to crawl under the barbed wire and backtracked to the road and took an alternative path beside Oakenshaw Wildlife Reserve....

At the golf club, the route technically follows an uninviting narrow path between a barn and a fence....

Most of this route follows an old railway track but some sections were 'inclines' so are fairly steep. The surface is generally good. It traffic free except for 3 or 4 road crossings....
