Help connect Bournemouth
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Bournemouth’s Slow Ways.

Walk this routeThe scenery was beautiful, we were lucky that the weather was good making the walk one enjoyed by everyone....

In terms of this being reasonably simple and direct , this is a perfect route to follow to get between Bournemouth and Christchurch. There are well established footpaths/ pavement all the way, some alongside roads that are 30 mph max so a safe route. Lovely long and gentle walk along the beach promenade included! I agree with route creator there are some other more aesthetic possible routes, but this is ideal for directness and actually the street walking is not that bad, especially if you like admiring the houses as you walk by. :)...

The route mainly follows the Stour Valley Way from Wimborne to the outskirts of Bournemouth....

A mix of landscapes along this pleasant walk from Poole to Bournemouth, nearly all of it alongside the sea except for the Sandbanks Rd stretch. Once you come off at Shore Road and hit the beach there is a nice cafe for a snack and coffee before walking the rest of the way along the Promenade, which is wide and flat enough for both cyclists and walkers....
Tracy Thompson
Fairly direct route, runs alongside a fairly busy road for a stretch in Christchurch....
Lewis
An easy, accessible and pleasant walk, mostly right along the coast, with lovely sea views and beaches. Lots of cafes, toilets and places to rest along the route too....

There is a short distance along some road, a mile or so, before coming to the top of Evening Hill, here there is a set of steps, to the right, which can take you off the road and along the sea edge, for a short distance, before returning to the path alongside the road....

From Poole railway station follow cycle route 25 as it goes through a little bit of Poole shopping centre then round the edge of Parkstone Bay. Leaving the cycle route continue along past the marina. Just before Bournemouth Pier the route actually takes a flight of steps up the cliff face (just before Amusement arcade)....

This is for doing the walk from west to east (ie Bournemouth to Christchurch): At the point where the route starts to turn inland, carry on along the prom until you reach Point House Slope. Walk up here and carry on straight ahead along Harbour rd. At the end, follow cycle way 2 to Tuckton, Iford and Christchurch, then walk through Wick Fields Nature Reserve and then along the riverside to Tuckton Bridge where you rejoin the original route. You can also cut through Druit Gardens from Wick Lane to come out on the High Street at the library, where the route ends. This route is slightly longer, but much more pleasant:) There are various food and drink outlets, and public toilets along the way....
