Most of this route is lovely, along the Meanwood Valley trail and through some lovely countryside but there is a short stretch along the very busy and fast ring road which is horrible and I would not recommend....

Even though it's 6 miles it didn't feel like it and has an excellent stopping off point in Meanwood centre for a rest and to refuel....

It was mostly easy walking, with only one short stretch of country road with no footpath which was quite steep and looked like it could be quite slippy in icy weather....

Most direct route between Adel and Horsforth - not particularly scenic, although there isn't a more scenic alternative without major detours. Mostly follows pavements, apart from a foot path next to the Ireland Wood playing fields, which is very accessible. Tinshill Lane is fairly steep....

Mostly on urban roads, some off road, a steep hill at the beginning and then a gentle incline, good views across Leeds and beyond before it drops down into Adel...

Mostly off-road with only a couple of quiet road sections, and one road crossing on a fast road (King Lane). Lots of fields, hedgerows and a few stiles to climb over. Muddy in wet weather but great fun stomping in puddles....

This is a very busy road which people use to cut through from the Leeds ring road to the Wharfedale towns....

Some bits of the route are on busy roads, there is a very busy road to cross, there are lots of stiles, some rough ground and a confusing bit through a farm where I got lost. There are some lovely stretches of walk too, across fields and along wooded paths...

Wonderful wooded sections with facilities in the middle section near Meanwood park. This route is updated to avoid the Dale Way link path blockage in Meanwood Woods....

You can speed up the route by walking along the road North of Adel to Bramhope. However, the off road sections are well worth visiting. The path through Bramhope Grove Farm is not sign posted but the route on the map is possible....
