Latest Updates

Most of this route is very good, but there are two places where I think the route needs to be changed; where it crosses Beach Rd, and at the exit from Northumberland Park (see more below.). The route links Northumberland Park Metro Station and Tynemouth Village Green....

Really nice route starting from Segedunum including the marina, sea front and lovely views. Not many hills so an easy walk. The mapped route was very accurate...

It would be greatly improved by the provision of a riverside footpath to connect the section from Royal Quays to Howdon, which currently has to be done alongside main roads, although there are footpaths all the way. Currently the escalators in the pedestrian tunnel are not running; there's a lift or the challenge of descending / ascending the static escalators....

The views of the Grand Hotel, and then Tynemouth Priory and Castle and the Tynemouth lighthouse make for a very rewarding walk....

You can easily get down onto Longsands beach (2 steeper slopes at either end or step-paths at points along the top), Cullercoats has a steep slope or steps....
