Most of this route is very good, but there are two places where I think the route needs to be changed; where it crosses Beach Rd, and at the exit from Northumberland Park (see more below.). The route links Northumberland Park Metro Station and Tynemouth Village Green....

When you turn on to the track, it is fairly narrow, maximum 1m but parts are down to 1/2m. At the end of the track you turn left on to a narrow contry lane with no verges. From here you turn right down a narrow track and then round a school field. Here there is a butchers, bakers, fish and chip shop, a convenience shop, and 100m to the left is a Co-op and the Foxhunters pub which serves meals and has customer toilets. Along the way is a sandwich shop on the right and a fish and chip shop on the left. At Monkseton there is a Spar, Ship Inn (toilet, limited food), Black Horse (Toilets), Monkseaton Arms (toilets, food), Millicans Bakers, Chinese takeaway, fish and chip shop, snadwich shop and small restaurant. Turn right here in to Whitley Bay (there are plenty of coffee shops on the road to the left). In Whitley Bay there are several pubs, butchers, bakers, including Greggs, fish and chip shops and several restaurants....
