Latest Updates
The first part of this walk has some lovely sections, including across Thornliebank Playing Fields (great views of the city and beyond) and Eastwood Park. The second half is less appealing, as it sticks to the busy main road. An alternative - longer but quieter and more attractive - would be the second half of the Giffnock to Busby Slow Way (Gifbus one)....

Good route with a lovely section through Pollok Country Park....

I did wonder if an alternative route could be made to the east, using green spaces such as Queen’s Park, Auldhouse Park and Mansewood High Park....

Walk this routeHowever there is a short section of the route which presents a considerable access challenge and therefore the route will require to be redesigned. Just before a big, new housing estate, the route follows a path off to the right. Once these junctions have been left behind, the route heads away from the main road via a path which leads uphill and then down again into the Arden housing estate. There is evidence that alternative access to the embankment path was once possible via an adjacent, modern housing estate, but on the day I passed, the link had been completely boarded up....

After leaving Giffnock, the route diverges from the main road and follows the line of a section of the Auldhouse Burn before heading past Woodfarm Pavilion and Playing Fields....

It is an extremely straightforward route which follows the main Orchard Park Avenue / Orchard Drive all the way from Thornliebank to Giffnock....

It is a very straightforward route which follows the main road from Thornliebank to Shawlands before cutting through some quiet backstreets, emerging onto the busy Minard Road at Crossmyloof and continuing down the equally busy Darnley Road to end at Pollokshields East Railway Station....

The route now zig-zags through an extensive residential area, eventually joining and crossing the busy Paisley Road West at the handy shopping area of Cardonald. From this point on, the route follows a cycle path down to and along the White Cart Water, into Pollok Park and arriving at the impressive Pollok House. At Pollok House, the route heads south across an ornate bridge and strikes off along the northern edge of the Pollok Golf Course....
