Help connect Thornliebank

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Thornliebank’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates

The first part of this walk has some lovely sections, including across Thornliebank Playing Fields (great views of the city and beyond) and Eastwood Park. The second half is less appealing, as it sticks to the busy main road. An alternative - longer but quieter and more attractive - would be the second half of the Giffnock to Busby Slow Way (Gifbus one)....

However there is a short section of the route which presents a considerable access challenge and therefore the route will require to be redesigned. Just before a big, new housing estate, the route follows a path off to the right. The route now zig-zags through an extensive residential area, eventually joining and crossing the busy Paisley Road West at the handy shopping area of Cardonald. From this point on, the route follows a cycle path down to and along the White Cart Water, into Pollok Park and arriving at the impressive Pollok House. At Pollok House, the route heads south across an ornate bridge and strikes off along the northern edge of the Pollok Golf Course....
